June Gardening

I have been super busy, so it took me till now to get you the June Gardening list.  It is going to be a hot one this weekend.  Pease don’t try to get all of the June Gardening tasks done this weekend!  I’d say a cool drink and the beach or air conditioning is more on the agenda.  Since it is Father’s Day weekend we should all take a little breather.

August - Monarch on Verbena

We have been lulled into submission with the beautiful June Gloom here in Southern California, but this week it came to an end.  I sure hope we have not seen the last of it.  With that in mind you should take advantage of our cool mornings to do some of your June Gardening tasks.

Each month I  like to take time to step back and look at the garden, to see if there are plants or boulders that would make a nice addition.  If you find there are plants you want to add, you are in luck there are a lot gorgeous plants in the nursery at this time.  You’ll also want to take a look at your irrigation.  Make sure that it is in working order, and if you haven’t maybe think about converting some beds (or all) to drip or other high efficiency irrigation.   Take a look at your mulch, if it is fading or getting low add some.  Your plants roots (and therefore the whole plant) will thank you.  Weeding – it may be a chore but the heat and some water brings out those weeds, so take a little time each day to pull some weeds.  You’ll be glad that you did.  (The mulch will help keep it down – so don’t forget that step!)

Here is your June Gardening List, so take a look and see what you need to do.  If you have any questions, or want to talk design give me a call at 661-917-3521 or visit my website and contact me there.
